Optimal ventilation and dehumidification for a better work environment

Skallerup Klit Holiday Center chose a comfort-friendly ventilation system in connection with the construction of a new industrial kitchen.

The importance of healthy indoor climate

The indoor climate plays a significant role in our health and well-being. Fluctuating temperatures, drafts, and the effects of moisture and water vapor account for many sick days in Danish companies. Therefore, a tailored and well-thought-out ventilation system will benefit both employees and the company by improving well-being and reducing sick days.

Skallerup Klit Holiday Center had indoor climate issues and contacted Bardram Luft-Teknik on the recommendation of a former Bardram customer. Henrik Nielsen, Technical Manager at Skallerup Klit Holiday Center, states: "After receiving Bardram's proposal, we had no doubts. We wanted to utilize their expertise and the know-how that clearly comes with working with Bardram. We immediately felt confident with their serious and thorough needs analysis. It meant we got the solution that suited our needs."

"We got exactly the solution that suited us."

Efficient and flexible system expansion

During the installation of the ventilation system, it became necessary to place the ventilation unit in a different location than initially desired. This resulted in an extension of the ducting by approximately 50 meters.

"In that situation, Bardram—and not least their installers—were quick to find a sustainable solution. And this was done within the original schedule. The flexible and trustworthy collaboration has been valuable in a flawless project process," asserts Henrik Nielsen.

A comprehensive needs analysis prior to project planning and system sizing was the first thing Bardram delivered. The analysis resulted in Skallerup Klit being able to set several requirements for the system. These requirements included an optimal indoor climate for kitchen staff, high efficiency in heat recovery, and low noise levels in the kitchen area. Additionally, there were requirements for effective ventilation of polluted air and demand-controlled ventilation. We knew we could deliver a professional ventilation system that could meet all the requirements, and we immediately started working.

Ventilation system with heat recovery

Crossflow Heat Exchanger
At the top of the restaurant building in Skallerup Klit, there is an innovative crossflow heat exchanger ventilation system that carefully controls ventilation and air exchange in the building. This advanced system is remarkable for its efficient way of utilizing heat in the ventilation process, where at least 58% of the heat is recovered before the polluted air is discharged into the surroundings. This special ventilation system with heat recovery is tailored for various purposes, including the food industry and the hotel and restaurant sector. It is discreetly placed outside on the building's roof and demonstrates impressive performance with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters of air per hour. Despite its impressive capacity, it maintains a relatively low noise level of only 83 dB Lw(A), ensuring minimal noise pollution. This crossflow heat exchanger ventilation system is a technical masterpiece. With a weight of 2,700 kg and dimensions of 7 meters in length, 1.2 meters in width, and 2.2 meters in height, it can be adapted as needed and placed indoors or outdoors, depending on the user's preferences.

In addition to its impressive capacity and versatility, this system is known for being incredibly reliable in operation. It is easy to maintain and service with convenient access, and it also offers a wide range of color options to match the surroundings' aesthetics. All in all, this crossflow heat exchanger ventilation system is an exceptionally reliable and efficient solution for maintaining high air quality in various environments.

Cooling Bags
The introduction of fresh air into the kitchen and dishwashing area is done innovatively through "fabric bags" placed under the ceiling. These fabric cooling bags are constructed with a special weaving that ensures even distribution of the airflow. The diffuse introduction method has the advantage of preventing drafts, resulting in a comfortable indoor climate. At the same time, an improved cooling effect is achieved, contributing to a more economical operation.
